We are pleased to inform you that the Institute of Environmental Engineering, Polish Academy of Sciences in Zabrze (IEE PAS), in collaboration with ARCTIS POLAND, is organizing the 13th Scientific Conference on AIR PROTECTION IN THEORY AND PRACTICE in Zakopane from October 15-18, 2024.

The new scientific project entitled: “The origin of iron minerals in soils with high permeability and determination of soil diagnostic horizons using magnetic proxies” was officially launched on 16^th of January, 2024, during the kickoff meeting in the Izerka village, located near the Czech-Polish border. This research  is funded by the Polish National Science Center and the Czech Science Foundation.

On 27 January 2023, Prof. Sang Ho Nam, head of the Centre for Plasma Spectroscopy at Mokpo National University, visited the IEE PAS together with Prof. Yonghoon Lee.

We would like to inform you that on 8 December 2022, at the 148th session, the General Assembly of the Polish Academy of Sciences will elect a member of our Institute, Prof. Dr. hab. Eng. Czesława Rosik-Dulewska, member item. Polish Academy of Sciences, as a member of the Committee on Ethics in Science for the term 2023-2026.

On 24 November 2022, the ceremony to confer the title of Professor took place at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw. We are pleased to inform you that among the nominees was our colleague Full Professor Raymond Michalski.

In September 2022, the analytical infrastructure of the Department of Environmental Magnetism and Reclamation was equipped with the new Olympus DSX 1000 digital microscope. With this device it is possible to carry out detailed studies on the morphology of different types of particles.

On 7 October 2022, the 18th edition of the Science Day took place in the Historical Water Tower in Zabrze. A team of scientists from our Institute (MS. Maria Szuszkiewicz, PhD Małgorzata Wawer, PhD Michał Bućko and PhD Adam Łukasik) presented devices for measuring soil pollution in the field using modern magnetic techniques.
